2: REPRESENTATION

How does your media product represent particular social gorups?

Black Swan: Nina Sayers

  Compared to
 Black Rose: Natalie Harland

The leading role, Natalie Harland, will attract female audiences due to the fact females will be able to feel as if they can relate to her. Black Rose will also attract male audiences due to the fact it is still a horror/ thriller which will involve spine chilling moments that all males would come to see.

Both Nina and Natalie are female leads that show mentally unstabe flaws in their characters. There is a sense of an obsession over perfection in the character Nina plays. From this we tired to mirror this sense of 'obsession' and trying and link it in with our character Natalie. In both the pictures above we tried to interlink the use of mirrors to show the characters inner thoughts and to further this feel of their mentally unstables flaws.

The characters above are similar due to the fact they are both represented as ordinary woman, with their casual clothing and lifestyles. On the first impression you wouldn't think that there was anything wrong with the two characters. This sence of not knowing leaves a sense of mystery for the audience to uncover througout the film.

Both Nina and Natalie play young female roles that would attract a younger audience of people around the ages of 15-30.
