Personally either my Smart phone (iphone) or my laptop is the key piece of technology which allows me to keep updated on news all over the globe with a touch of a button. If i'm not using these two pieces of technology I would either be extracting information through television, news papers or even through conversation.
When using my laptop I would extract my information either through Facebook or Twitter, this alows we to both keep up with what's going on and hear people's views on a certain subject. E.g. Somebodies review on a new film. When I'm out and about and I don't have my laptop, my smart phone (iPhone 4) comes into use. through "safari" and many other social networking apps I can keep updated just as I would on my laptop. From this I am constantly affected by media due to it being constantly accessible within seconds. For instance I'm even updating "my media world" using my phone, just that it's self proves how portable and how much access in it's self, surely?
Another way I am affected by media is also through the "hypodermic syringe theory" and the "two step flow theory". The hypodermic syringe theory is when advertising companies advertise their product as much as possible, these companies put it viral in order to capture a range of target audiences e.g. A whole range of ages through Facebook. Its almost a sense of propaganda. The two step flow theory is when something spreads through communication, e.g. Someone influencing another to watch a new film. This is most effective in my opinion due to it it spreading faster and does not cost any money to produce. From this I am again constantly impacted by today's media.
Media is greatly important in the world I live in seeing as so many people rely on it to quite literally get through the day. Without it technology wouldn't be as it is today and ultimately we wouldn't have made anywhere near as much advancements in numerous things. e.g. Health (the apporiate ways we should be looking after ourselves). People rely on it for education, entertainment and most importantly communication. From this all in all, it has a huge impact on my life.
Before you submit this for marking, you should consider how to exploit the technologies that blogging offers, so that this account includes video or audio work. All blog posts benefit enormously from visual images, as well. Remember that this account is the place where you show knowledge of all the media that is available to you: how do you use your phone, laptop? How do you uses social networks? Which platforms do you use for films? Does this vary, depending on the need for portability? This post requires details, including naming the names (plus pics) of what you use.
